China Mobile announced cooperation with Huawei covering the Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Hong Kong Express Rail Link with 5G network at the launch ceremony of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA) 5G Industry Alliance in Hong Kong on Aug 21st.
The GBA 5G Industry Alliance is co-organized by China Mobile Hong Kong (CMHK), China Mobile Guangdong branch (CMCC GD), CTM and Guangdong Communication Industry Association. It is designed to promote the technology industry and resource sharing platforms in order to develop a smart city cluster in the GBA.
5G is not only a technology but also a strong force set to improve society through better communication, and improve many other sectors such as transport, according to Leung Chun-ying, Vice Chairman of the CPPCC. He encouraged all regions and industries to cooperate with each other and make full use of the platforms provided by the alliance to promote GBA development.
At present, China Mobile is working on constructing a 5G network and on 5G application innovation. It is also working with China Southern Power Grid, GAC Group and Guangdong Provincial People’s Hospital to create a vibrant 5G industrial ecosystem.
Li Feng, Chairman of CMHK, said that as the digital economy drives industry development, China Mobile should apply 5G technology to more industries like manufacturing, education and medical treatment so as to fully exert their industry advantages and generate better synergy across the GBA.
